Right from the start, the goal for this project was to create a bright and airy living space that would stand up to the wear and tear of a family with two young children. The room is fairly narrow, so we started off with this custom designed sofa featuring a shallow chaise, which is scaled perfectly to fit the size and shape of the room. We chose to wrap the sofa in this beautiful, yet resilient textured grey upholstery that will hold it’s own against whatever the kids can throw at it. When designing for families with small children, we are always mindful of their safety, and are careful to try and select pieces that are free of hard edges or corners. For this space we selected a large camel-colored leather ottoman, handmade in Morocco, rather than going with the more traditional coffee table option, and added a rounded stone tray for a decorative finish.
